Officially.. Manchester City includes a Mahrez substitute

"Manchester City Successfully Compensates for Riyad Mahrez's Departure with Jeremy Doku Signing"

Manchester City has successfully filled the void left by the departure of Algerian winger Riyad Mahrez, who moved to Al Ahli Jeddah in Saudi Arabia during the summer transfer window.

The club officially announced via their official Twitter account the signing of Belgian star Jeremy Doku from French club Rennes.

Doku underwent medical examinations earlier before finalizing his move to Manchester City this summer.

Expressing his excitement, Doku confirmed his eagerness to join City and looked forward to continuing his development in football under the guidance of manager Pep Guardiola.

He stated, "This is a great day for me, both personally and professionally. Manchester City is the best team in world football, so joining them is something very special for me and my family."

He added, "I'm a young player, and I still have a lot to learn and improve. Working with Pep and his staff, alongside playing alongside the team's players, will make me a much better player. I'm confident about that."

Several media reports indicate that Manchester City reached an agreement with Rennes to acquire Doku for £60 million.

Doku had an impressive season with Rennes, scoring 7 goals and providing 4 assists in 35 matches.

He made his international debut for Belgium in 2020 and has since featured in 14 matches, representing his country in the UEFA Euro 2020 finals and the 2022 FIFA World Cup.

Doku becomes Manchester City's third signing this summer, following the earlier acquisitions of Croatian Josko Gvardiol from RB Leipzig and compatriot Mateo Kovacic from Chelsea.
