Angel Di Maria, the star of Benfica in Portugal, has admitted that he rejected several offers from Saudi clubs in the recent period.
Di Maria joined Juventus last summer on a free transfer after leaving Paris Saint-Germain, signing a one-year contract with an option for an additional year, but it did not materialize, and he decided to return to Benfica.
In his statements quoted by "Football Italia," Di Maria said, "Juventus? It was an extremely difficult year for the club." He added, "I never understood what happened during the season. I tried to do my duty whenever the opportunity to play came, but I didn't play much, and in the end, it affected me."
Juventus had a tough season off the field, with the team's results being affected. The club lost 15 points initially due to financial violations, which were later reduced to 10 points. Additionally, there was a departure of the board of directors and a decline in the team's position in the Serie A table, ultimately resulting in their absence from the UEFA Champions League.
The Argentine continued, "I had several meetings with the Juventus management, and this was not what I discussed with the coach (Allegri). Sometimes you realize that words don't mean much."
Regarding the Saudi offers, Angel said, "I received numerous calls from Saudi clubs. They were crazy offers, but I chose with my heart, and that's why I chose Benfica."
